But an extra fee for the service is becoming common and some major airlines now limit assignments to a narrow time frame. Once your ticket is complete you should be able to go to the individual airlines for the selection. My experience suggests avoiding seat selection through the on-line agencies. Aer Lingus has quirky websites, I think, and a phone call or two may be more reliable. Oddly, it shows an Aer Lingus route (from Boston my guess) through Dublin to Dubrovnik and back from Venice even though the airline's own site doesn't. I like Cheapoair, despite its name, as a quick source of information and alternative routes. Expedia is well-established and part of a giant travel corporation. Trying to buy the various legs of the trip as one-way fares yourself increases both the final price and the difficulty of luggage check-throughs and seat assignment. On-line agencies such as Expedia (and many others) are the practical solution for booking itineraries involving several airlines which do not sell each other's tickets. I guess i have 2 questions: has this happened to anyone else and does anyone have any recent experience with Expedia? For tickets booked through Expedia, another travel agency, or another airline. I also checked the layover times wondering if that could be a problem, but they are about 2 1/2 - 2 3/4 hours in each direction, which seems reasonable to me. No one in your party has checked in for any flights on this reservation. I have only booked with Travelocity years ago, and didn't like that I could not book my seats ahead of time and also worried what would happen if there was an issue with the flights. Has anyone else had this issue? I like to book directly with the airlines, but am wondering if I could book with Expedia and not run into problems. However, when I go to the Aer Lingus website, Dubrovnik is not even available as a city to fly into from Boston. However, when the protection plan was cancelled, I expected a credit for 350 but it wasn’t issued.

Searching on several of the various search engines (ITAMatrix google flights Kayak, Expedia, Skyscanner & Travelocity) I get airfare quotes from apprx $900 - $1250 on Aer Lingus. Hotel was reimbursed and we received flight vouchers. I am planning a trip to Croatia & Slovenia (flying into Dubrovnik, out of Venice) for my daughters' graduation trip in June.
